Market Close-Yellow Roadway

Posted: August 29, 2008 at 4:11 pm by Chuck

(YRWC) Yellow Roadway Corp. a transportation company, is going to layoff "a couple hundred" employees.  Ouch.  It’s getting tougher all the time in the transportation sector.

It was a very low volume day and fairly uneventful.  There was some end of the month positioning going on, but otherwise not much else happened.  We’ll have more for you later.  Hope y’all have a great weekend.

Yellow sucks!! they’ve been laying off management every week
how do they sleep at night-heartless big business
people have devoted their whole lives to that company and this is how they get repaid-no money, no severance and possibly losing their houses
poor mismanagement by the bigwigs and the little guys who worked their behinds off for this company get hurt

yellow roadway has been the worst company i have ever worked in. supevior’s there good for nothing, they just wonder around doing nothing. and they make 70 to 80,000 a year. roadway managment sucks they protect the lazy people and they push the hard working people and i think that is not the way thst should work! we all us employees should push together and to make this a better and succesful company! managment dont have the guts to get on top of those guys who make the company worse and worse and every day, this company should get rid of those supervisours who dont do nothing! T.O.M.S. this has been the WORST company i have ever worked in im just waiting to see when the company goes Downnnn the hole

well guess what-it doesn’t matter what you think or how you feel Noel because you can work your behind off for this company and yes there are alot of lazy low lifes who waste their energy doing nothing. but all the years you put in and you’re caring and hard work means nothing in the end-because yellow roadway is in trouble right now-so is the damn country and if yellow needs to save themselves, then it’s out with the old and in with the new .or maybe you’re out of a job because they need to downsize and save some bucks. and welcome to my world and let me tell you it hurts financially and personally and i never ever thought in a million years they would do this to me and my family

I got laid off from Yellow. Best thing that ever happened to me. I was on salary and was scheduled for 5- 10 hour days 50 hours a week. But worked a minimum of 55hours a week and worked many times to 15 hours in one day.
The drivers take their time and pile up the overtime and nothing is said to them.
If they finish their run and are 5 minutes from the terminal they take 3 hours to get to the terminal, nothing said to them. While there are some good dedicated drivers most of them are big problems that senoir mangement does not want to deal with. Work slowdowns were commonplace. Most of the drivers and dock workers think that they are getting paid to stand around and bullshit with each other’. Getting rid of a bunch of supervisors will only feed this problem.
But my new job is for the same money with not even half of the responsibilities that I had at Yellow and I now work 35 hours a week and have a life now.

    Thankyou!!! Thankyou!!! Thankyou!!!!

I just love having the bigwigs with Yellow trying to keep eveything positive, do they really think their employees believe them? Give me a break. They have known for some time what the plan has been. They know now but will not let it be known. As for having a job in the future, I’m sure the Roadway employees will have one, you would of thought that Roadway purchased Yellow. I am to the point that if this company goes down in flames, I would love to throw more gas on the fire.
