(YRWC) Yellow Roadway Corp. a transportation company, is going to layoff "a couple hundred" employees. Ouch. It’s getting tougher all the time in the transportation sector.
It was a very low volume day and fairly uneventful. There was some end of the month positioning going on, but otherwise not much else happened. We’ll have more for you later. Hope y’all have a great weekend.

Yellow sucks!! they’ve been laying off management every week
how do they sleep at night-heartless big business
people have devoted their whole lives to that company and this is how they get repaid-no money, no severance and possibly losing their houses
poor mismanagement by the bigwigs and the little guys who worked their behinds off for this company get hurt
I agree Yellow sucks!!
yellow roadway has been the worst company i have ever worked in. supevior’s there good for nothing, they just wonder around doing nothing. and they make 70 to 80,000 a year. roadway managment sucks they protect the lazy people and they push the hard working people and i think that is not the way thst should work! we all us employees should push together and to make this a better and succesful company! managment dont have the guts to get on top of those guys who make the company worse and worse and every day, this company should get rid of those supervisours who dont do nothing! T.O.M.S. this has been the WORST company i have ever worked in im just waiting to see when the company goes Downnnn the hole
well guess what-it doesn’t matter what you think or how you feel Noel because you can work your behind off for this company and yes there are alot of lazy low lifes who waste their energy doing nothing. but all the years you put in and you’re caring and hard work means nothing in the end-because yellow roadway is in trouble right now-so is the damn country and if yellow needs to save themselves, then it’s out with the old and in with the new .or maybe you’re out of a job because they need to downsize and save some bucks. and welcome to my world and let me tell you it hurts financially and personally and i never ever thought in a million years they would do this to me and my family
I got laid off from Yellow. Best thing that ever happened to me. I was on salary and was scheduled for 5- 10 hour days 50 hours a week. But worked a minimum of 55hours a week and worked many times to 15 hours in one day.
The drivers take their time and pile up the overtime and nothing is said to them.
If they finish their run and are 5 minutes from the terminal they take 3 hours to get to the terminal, nothing said to them. While there are some good dedicated drivers most of them are big problems that senoir mangement does not want to deal with. Work slowdowns were commonplace. Most of the drivers and dock workers think that they are getting paid to stand around and bullshit with each other’. Getting rid of a bunch of supervisors will only feed this problem.
But my new job is for the same money with not even half of the responsibilities that I had at Yellow and I now work 35 hours a week and have a life now.
Thankyou!!! Thankyou!!! Thankyou!!!!
You are so full of crap. I know plenty of drivers that work there asses off, and it is Management that is ultimately the downfall of these companies.
YRC should have sold Holland back to the man that so them holland in the first place. He made an offer to buy back just Holland for what YRC bought Holland, Dugan, and Red Star. YRC turned him down.
That man knew how to run a truckline. Salaried people for the most part are the ones that have run YRC(Holland) in the ground.
Holland was making money until YRC bought them. So you tell me management didn’t screw Holland and all the drivers there.
My Opinion is YRC purchased Holland just to put them out of business. Holland was competition for YRC. What better way to get rid of the competition than to buy them and run them in the ground.
Mr. Zoeller and all his fat cats are sitting there on their laurels. They don’t give a damn about anybody but management. It is the drivers there are out there everyday doing the PR work. After all; they are the ones in constant contact with the customers. It’s not salaried pencil pushers.
Sincerely,
Marlene
I just love having the bigwigs with Yellow trying to keep eveything positive, do they really think their employees believe them? Give me a break. They have known for some time what the plan has been. They know now but will not let it be known. As for having a job in the future, I’m sure the Roadway employees will have one, you would of thought that Roadway purchased Yellow. I am to the point that if this company goes down in flames, I would love to throw more gas on the fire.
get rid of zollars for starters
I agree with all the above. Yellow Roadway is a fucking joke- both managers and teamsters. I won’t say what side of the line I’m on, but it doesn’t matter. YRC is going down. Their bad business practices and shitty service are not sustainable even in a good economy. I look forward to the day when my job with YRC is in the rearview. Good f’n riddance and F.U. Zollars!
I got this from the wires this afternoon…
YRCW- SEEKS TO MODIFY TEAMSTERS LABOR CONTRACT
- its Yellow Transportation, Roadway, Holland and New Penn business units have reached a tentative agreement with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters to modify the current labor agreement for employees covered by the National Master Freight Agreement. Details surrounding the modification are expected to be available next week following further discussions with labor leadership and the affected employees. The modification to the agreement, which we expect to be ratified in December, will establish a more competitive cost structure.
What a bogus Zollars and his colleages symbolize. I had dinner with Zoll Baby a couple times and could read through his bull shit. How do a..holes like Z make it to the top? Very Interesting.
When I began my career with Yellow 15 years ago I felt they were a well-managed company. The company had good, competent upper management that could organize and direct their subordinates and could develop successful strategies and policies that could be followed down the chain of command. However, within the last two years and certainly within the last six months, all cohesion and ability to lead and implement successful policy has ended. Upper management is unable to develop any coherent plan and is merely throwing up last minute attempts at a plan, that are typically obsolete or unsuccessful upon implentation. The Velocity Network was a case in point. Although well intentioned, it was two years late. It was an attempted entry into the next day market that would require immediate freight density to be successful. However, the entry into this market took place at a time when the economy was entering a recessionary period and freight volume was dropping. Great planning!! Implementation was terrible, service was sporadic and was below or at par with the competition leading customers to wonder why they should switch from their existing carrier to pay a higher price for the same or lesser service. The change of operations was disorganized at best. Thousands of employees had to relocate, families were broken up, lives disrupted. And six months later the Velocity Network is now being gutted for the new “Merger”. Upper management has done such a terrible job running the company they must now do what they said they would never do, combine Yellow and Roadway. The development and implementation for the merger has been haphazard at best. It appears to be a “hail Mary pass” to attempt to survive the last several years of mistakes and mismanagement and thrown together at the last minute in an attempt to impress and satisfy YRC’s creditors who are an inch from pulling the plug and want to see some attempt at a plan to stop the hemorhaging. Once again thousands of employees are having to relocate, families broken up, lives disrupted, employees laid off or terminated.
Avoid working for this company. Not that they will be hiring anytime soon anyway. You will always be a commodity with them to be discarded when necessary.
i worked for roadway / yellows partner and they terrozed this family with manipulting my dispatch ….i gave over 14,000$ to st judes and they lied and really hurt my family…..i’ll say yellow is a liar and yellow sucks…..to bad the kids in hospitals could really use some money but yellow and their so-called good squad angels don’t care about the kids or my family or being descent people….i hope the lose their business in this recession
Hey, Im just a stupid linehaul driver. What would I know about the trucking industry. I see the dumb shit this company does to piss money down the tubes for instance send 2 drivers to the same location for the same load then leave with the same trailer that you brought EMPTY. Holding freight for another driver when you could have pulled the freight a day earlier, taking express freight to a terminal leaving it there and taking another load to the destination where the express freight was going to. You think this company would have learned from the Further Faster Disaster. I guess history is destined to repeat itself. If this company fails it ISNT any fault of the Teamsters we just drive the trucks. This is out right BAD MANAGEMENT. There should be mass firings of any/all management that had any thing to do with the failure of this Company w/no Golden Parachute. Send the idiots over to China where they could run those companies into the ground maybe we could get some of our manufacturing jobs back here. They took 10% from my pay Im thinking there is some Corporate Welfare (BAILOUT)(TAX PAYERS) money in the future. Thank You YRCW for screwing my families dream of owning a home or vehicle.
This company sucks, Zollars and his lackeys push for a 10% paycut. Then they layoff hundreds going into thousands of people. Tell us all how hard times are and how sacrifices must be made to keep our jobs. Then what does the SOB do? He gives himself and his lackeys over 500,000 shares of stock for free. That’s right, not options – just prints new stock and gives it to himself. Zollar’s took 260,000 shares for himself. He is a liar, a thief, and I truley HATE him!!!!
they harrassed and hurt my fasmily for 8+ years and then lied about promotions…..they worked hard to hurt my famil=y and laughed when they did it i was giving 10$ a week from my check to help st judes hospital and they screwed me and st judes <. the liar heartless bastards…….they destroy kids nopt help them what a shit company
I worked for Yellow for 17 years back in the late 1980s is when I started working for them when it was owned by the Powell family after the old man retired it was taken over by the son and that is when the company started to go to shit.Management never cared about the people that worked for them or for the customers.all they cared about were the numbers so they could get there bonuses.do not bring in the extra people to cover the dock or the city work, just let the freight sit on the trailers or the customers dock because management did not bring in the extra couple dock or p&d drivers to deliver or pick up the freight.all dictated by the big dusche bag Billy Z know for running Ryder into the ground.now he can claim another company he ruined.sad part is,after yellow/roadway there will be another company willy to hire this smuck and he will ruin that company to.so let me end by saying do not blame the people that work for yellow/roadway,blame the one who runs the company, cause shit rolls down hill, everything comes from the top
