Tea Party – The Truth
On April 15th 2009 American people gathered around the nation to protest the growing deficit, bailouts, and the spending of tax money in ways that the American people don’t want to be spent.
The U.S. Government and numerous main stream media outlets embarked on a campaign to paint the tea party events, and the participants, as extremists. But nothing could be further from the truth.
The tea parties were not an issue of Democrats vs. Republicans, or an issue of people not wanting to pay taxes at all (as some media reports would have you believe). The tea parties were simply American people (Republican, Democrat, and independents) saying that they have had enough of the ‘business as usual’ in Washington and the spending of the Americans’ hard earned money to bail out Wall Street institutions who acted recklessly in the first place.
RebelTraders is about trading the U.S. stock market. But your host (me) also wants to see the problems that ‘created’ this financial crisis addressed honestly and fairly, to which more and more other Americans are now standing up and saying. That is what the tea parties were about, not extremists.
The media and U.S. Government are portraying the people who attended the tea parties as “right wing” nuts. And CNN even went on to report that the tea parties were organized by FOX news. This reporting is an injustice to the hard working people of this country and CNN has lost a great deal of credibility now, not just by me, but by hundreds of thousands of people who are still struggling to get by day to day in this nation. And have watched their money being spend to bail out those who played a major role in creating this financial crisis in the first place.
A Republican vs Democrat issue this is not, this is an American people issue.
My Friend Karl Denninger over at the Market Ticker has put together a wonderful video and he gave me permission to include it here for you.

might as well prepare for economic collapse, because they certainly are not going to prosecute the criminals who stole billions from us. ain’t gonna happen.
First of all although not American, I am more comfortable with Obama and the Democrats in office.
But this is not for financial or economic reasons.
It seems as though no one has confidence in the market except when it is permitted to do it’s own version of creative accounting or when banks are allowed to write off their own mistakes with little or no accountability.
it shouldn’t have been partisan but it was…these tea parties should have started last year with the bailout of banks…its all about Fox news promoting an anti-Obama rally.
Fox news had nothing to do with these tea parties. It was just that they were the only ones to report them fairly. Fox news is not creating an anti-Obama rally. The tea party began as an internet grass roots effort. Fox only covered it.
I think that people are wasting valuable energy and time debating these tea parties(right, left, middle…white, black, etc)!
Are people blind to the fact that ‘almost’ EVERY person Obama hires to run something has an issue with INTEGRITY and or HONESTY…(?) What about the 17 executive orders this prez. is JAMMING DOWN our throats within the first 60 days of his presidency?
The mans color should have no bearing on THE PRESIDENTS decesions.
Do we need to be reminded, that as the claims go, Mr. Prez is ALSO a WHITE PERSON?
It’s really getting sickening. These media outlets will do anything to maintain there base of support while also attempt to add new followers to them. These things are so obvious to me its LAUGHABLE, as in the ‘left’ lost my interest/support MANY YEARS AGO and they WILL NEVER get it back. So to waste time dwelling on these bozos is foolish.
It sure does appear the followers and non-followers are being led to slaughter…
When we have 50% of the population paying for all the stuff of the other 50%, I’d say people do have a right to voice their opinions…TEA PARTY or OTHERWISE! Thanks RICK SANTELLI for opening peoples eyes.
Spoken like a TRUE PARTISAN REPUBLICAN.
Definition: Corporatism …a political culture in which adherents believe that the basic unit of the society is some corporate group, rather than the individual. (Some call this Fascism.)
America is being controlled by corporations. This is a financial oligarchy that intentionally closes its ears to the wishes of the people.
Will holding “tea parties” extricate us? I doubt it. I’m very sad.
StrayKitty..
It is at least a start. I will hold out hope that one day those in Washington, D.C. will represent the people one day again.
wsquared58,
If you knew the author you wouldn’t put a simple-minded label on him to suit your own comfort zone. If you spent any time here you would know him as an Independent. There are many of us (and growing) who are very concerned , whether it be Bush, McCain, Obama, etc. in office. Truth? It’s really about the Fed and our Congressional leaders as a whole. If this were about Obama’s healthcare plan or forgein policy, then yes, it’s just gop banter. It is not. What is going on now is bigger than partisanship: it’s a protest against taxation w/o representation; panic spending; and PORK: adding it to legislation at a time like this should be criminal for both gop and dems.
StrayKitty,
There IS hope with these protests, they seem to be growing exponentially. The elections coming in 2010 and 2012 will be something to witness. In my opinion a sleeping giant is awakening, watch for massive removal or incumbants. Even if their replacements are no more worthy, a stong message is coming to D.C.
I am a little concerned about 2010 & 2012 — that the tea parties will be redirected to a partisan issue. It seems clear there is really only one party and the public get bounced back and forth in the same box. The media political/spin machine is powerful and Orwellian. I expect another false “change” candidate to emerge. Also, I am sure an awake giant is a conveted tool for the political war chest.
Michael, you underestimate how hard our reps actually work for us when they feel their jobs may come to an end. It’s when they become complacent and over-confident in their incumbancy that they morph deeper and deeper into Wall Street lap dogs. Oust them all and I don’t care who you vote in – they will do our bidding more than the old guard has ever done. Job ‘insecurity’ is the ultimate message that WILL have meaning to D.C.
The Banks are the biggest lobbyists of many lobbyists and all the lobbyists get their way.
I saw a politician on a show and he said re-election is first, re-election of his party is second, his principles were maybe third and the party principles were maybe fourth, his state was maybe fifth, and the general public was around sixth in his real priorities.
Until congressional campaigns are paid for by small donations from the public and/or some type of public financing, government for the corporations and the wealthy with minimal concern for the citizens at large will continue.
